Starbucks Boycott: What? Where? When? Who?

Thursday, July 06, 2017

Do you know what's going on with Starbucks lately? Well, it began with the LGBT's support statement by ex-CEO, Howard Schultz. That statement quickly triggered quite important public figures to voice out, such as Tim Cook, CEO Apple Inc., who admitted himself is, in fact, gay, but we're guessing you already knew all this. A shareholder for Starbucks complained that the company had lost costumers because of it during their annual general meeting of shareholders on 2013 in Seattle. Then, Howard responded that it wasn't an economic decision as he wanted to embrace a diversity of all kinds. He also concluded that they could just sell their shares in Starbucks and buy in another company.

Well, Starbucks' statement drove some people in Indonesia to voice out too, although not in a way we all assumed, apparently this statement resulted to the hashtag #BoikotStarbucks (Starbucks Boycott) on the internet.
